Update Roundup

In the past few months we’ve released some spiffy new things on Turntable, but some of them might not be totally obvious. Here are four of the newer things on the site that you should know about:

Ignore User

If there is that one person who just rubs you the wrong way, then ignore user is for you! It’s under the settings menu, when you click on it a dialogue box will come up where you can put in the name of the user you want to ignore. This will stop you from seeing their messages in chat. Unlike the old ignore feature, you won’t have to re-ignore a user if you leave the room. Once they’re ignored they’ll stay ignored, even if they change their name!

Connecting a Twitter account

Since we added Twitter login, it’s now possible to connect your Twitter account to your main Turntable account. There is a big button to do this in the lobby, but if you x’ed out of it don’t fret, you can still connect those accounts! To do this you’ll want to go to Settings from the lobby, where you’ll see the ‘Manage Accounts’ option. If you click on that you’ll bring up a dialogue box that will give you the option to connect a Twitter account to your Turntable account.

If you get an error when you try and connect the accounts you might have made a mistake account in the past. Check the FAQ here for directions on how to fix this.

Guest List

Sometimes in busy rooms it can be hard to mouse over everyone when you want to bring up one person’s profile. That’s where the Guest List comes in! If you click on the Guest List icon in the lower left hand corner of the chat box you’ll bring up the Guest List. This list tells you who all is in the room and lets you bring up their profile. If you’re a room moderator you can boot, pull down a DJ, or make someone a moderator from the Guest List too. The days of frustrated clicking are over!

Ding Mention

Here’s the thing, listening to Turntable with the chat ding on is right up there with children kicking your seat in an airplane in the pantheon of annoying things. But if you turn the chat ding off, you never know if someone is trying to get your attention. We have a fix! There is now a new chat ding setting, known as… ding mention! If you click on ‘ding on’ it will change the setting to ‘ding mention’ (if you click it again it will change to good old ‘ding off’), This setting means that whenever someone types at you in chat, @jessipedia for instance, the text will be highlighted in blue and a special notification ding will sound. Perfect for when you seem like you’re away, but someone needs to chat with you!

That’s all for now, keep checking back to see what we’re rolling out next!
